About blending modes in Fireworks

About blending modes
When you select a blending mode, Fireworks applies it to the selected objects in their entirety. Objects in a single document or on a single layer can have blending modes that differ from those of other objects in the document or on the layer.
When objects with different blending modes are grouped, the group's blending mode overrides individual blending modes. Ungrouping the objects restores each object's individual blending mode.
Elements in a blending mode:
Blend color:
The color to which the blending mode is applied.
Opacity:
The degree of transparency to which the blending mode is applied.
Base color:
The color of pixels underneath the blend color.
Result color:
The result of the blending mode's effect on the base color.
Normal:
Applies no blending mode.
Dissolve:
Randomly chooses colors between the current and background layer to create the blend effect.
Darken:
Selects the darker of the blend color and base color to use as the result color. This mode replaces only pixels that are lighter than the blend color.
Multiply:
Multiplies the base color by the blend color, resulting in darker colors.
Color Burn:
Darkens the base color in each channel to reflect the blend color by increasing the contrast. Blending with white produces no change.

About Adobe Fireworks

About Fireworks
Adobe Fireworks is a fun and easy way to create graphics. It allows the user to add many effects that make graphics unique. You can also use this program to create fun interactive web pages.
The user can create shapes with the different tools that are available in the tools panel. Different effects can be applied to images and shapes to make it unique  and create amazing images. The user can also optimize images for faster web downloading or enhance the images so that they are of best quality for posters or printing etc. There are some styles that Fireworks has that give the user some options to choose from when the user is creating graphics. There are so many helpful tools in Fireworks that make it easy for the user to create fun webpages like for instance the slice tool and hotspot tool. The user can use the slice tool to cut out a part of the web page that they want to be a button etc. and if the user double clicks on that slice then you can create rollover effects for the up, over and down states and add different effects for them.  There is also the Blur, sharpen, dodge, burn and smudge tool that the user can select and move over a image to change it to their specific wants. This is also a type of effect but with these tools the user can create the effects exactly where they want to.  Simple animation can be added to an object or an image to create movement and moving effects to make a web page more exciting. When a image is addded or a graphic is created and you want to animate or add it to the web page or even change it to be a button the you can change it to a symbol and then this gives the user the options that are available for buttons, animations and for graphics. When adding slices or hotspots the user can add behaviours to them that make the images swap, add rollover effects, effects to the nav bar and pop-ups. A specific URL can be added to a hotspot or slice. In Fireworks there are some pre-loaded options that the user can choose if they need buttons, animations, 2D objects .etc and edit them so that they are what the user wants. All these objects come with all the settings already but you still have to understand Fireworks and know how to edit the setttings to make it your own.  The canvas appears in the middle of the program on the stage and can be changed to fit a specific size of an object or image the canvas can also be changed to a specific colour or to transparent wich is very nice to have in web pages.

Fireworks is a very user-friendly program that everyone can learn fast and it its a very fun way to create graphics and add effetcs.
