About Adobe Fireworks

About Fireworks
Adobe Fireworks is a fun and easy way to create graphics. It allows the user to add many effects that make graphics unique. You can also use this program to create fun interactive web pages.
The user can create shapes with the different tools that are available in the tools panel. Different effects can be applied to images and shapes to make it unique  and create amazing images. The user can also optimize images for faster web downloading or enhance the images so that they are of best quality for posters or printing etc. There are some styles that Fireworks has that give the user some options to choose from when the user is creating graphics. There are so many helpful tools in Fireworks that make it easy for the user to create fun webpages like for instance the slice tool and hotspot tool. The user can use the slice tool to cut out a part of the web page that they want to be a button etc. and if the user double clicks on that slice then you can create rollover effects for the up, over and down states and add different effects for them.  There is also the Blur, sharpen, dodge, burn and smudge tool that the user can select and move over a image to change it to their specific wants. This is also a type of effect but with these tools the user can create the effects exactly where they want to.  Simple animation can be added to an object or an image to create movement and moving effects to make a web page more exciting. When a image is addded or a graphic is created and you want to animate or add it to the web page or even change it to be a button the you can change it to a symbol and then this gives the user the options that are available for buttons, animations and for graphics. When adding slices or hotspots the user can add behaviours to them that make the images swap, add rollover effects, effects to the nav bar and pop-ups. A specific URL can be added to a hotspot or slice. In Fireworks there are some pre-loaded options that the user can choose if they need buttons, animations, 2D objects .etc and edit them so that they are what the user wants. All these objects come with all the settings already but you still have to understand Fireworks and know how to edit the setttings to make it your own.  The canvas appears in the middle of the program on the stage and can be changed to fit a specific size of an object or image the canvas can also be changed to a specific colour or to transparent wich is very nice to have in web pages.

Fireworks is a very user-friendly program that everyone can learn fast and it its a very fun way to create graphics and add effetcs.

  1. Wow this post has made me want to start using fireworks again, but do you maybe know of a few websites where I can get some really easy to follow good tutorials? Nice looking blog aswel, but that font in a white "highlight" looking background can make it a bit difficult to read, but otherwise no complaints :)

  2. You explained the features of Fireworks in an obsolete manner.
Enjoyed reading your blog. I actually have a similar blog, but you can say my blog is more of a step-by-step guide in using Fireworks.
It was interesting to see once again all the different functions that can be used.

Can't wait to read your blogs in the future

  3. This post really makes Fireworks look like a fun program to use, and like I said before your blog makes me want to start using it again. How much different is Fireworks to Photoshop or Illustrator, or is it not similar with them at all? Can one use their knowledge from other adobe programs to help them with Fireworks, or does it work different to the other adobe software? Do you know what we can expect in the new CS6 version of Firefox, or if anything has improved with CS6? Looking forward to the blog updates.

  4. I actually enjoyed having Fireworks as a subject last year. It is really an user friendly program and the quality is still excellent. The fact simply for me is that Fireworks saves the files in PNG format. (Nerd moment) PNG format is one of my favourite formats to save files in, since it gives such a high quality and allows transparencies. The only problem is that the files might be too large to use on websites, but like you said, “...you still have to understand Fireworks and know how to edit the setting to make it your own.” Honestly if I had to choose a program to design only websites and small basic animations, I will still choose Fireworks.

  5. Your blog is very informative and it made me want to give Fireworks a try again.

I only used Fireworks last year when we had it as a subject and to be honest the only thing I really found better about Fireworks than Photoshop and Illustrator was that it was much easier to link pages and to create simple websites along with the rollover effects you could add to buttons. Your blog has shown me that there is more to Fireworks than the other design programs in the Adobe package, so maybe I'll give it a try.

I look forward to your next post.

  6. You have some good quality information on your blog. I'm just not sure the design is very practical.

Fireworks is a nice program if you want to quickly create a preview of a website for your client. As you stated, it is very user friendly and is quite easy to learn.

I'm looking forward to read your future posts.

  8. Hey Kynlyn, great blog. Looks great!

Like the fact that you explained what the program is used for and what is does to that extend. Also have to agree with everyone when they say they can’t wait to use it again, but must add that I cant wait to use it in my own time and do my own thing. Love the program and it’s just so much help when one creates different type of projects.

    Keep up the good work.
